America the Beautiful

Posted on: 1. Juli 2009

With the 4th of July approaching, I find my thoughts drifting to the most important event in American history– Independence Day. Even though its history dates back to the pilgrims taking their first step onto the huge continent, American history per se began with the Independence Day. After fighting a war for their liberty, the American people felt that a dividing line between the old continent and the new country had developed: America was born and would have to continue fighting for its existence. Considering the young age of the American nation, it has been deeply struck by violence and war, possibly more than all the European countries put together. It was a key player in The Indian wars, The War of Independence, The American Civil war, and The First and Second World Wars.
On the event of the 4th of July, patriotic displays including parades, fireworks or speeches take place. It is also a family celebration, with many families stepping out of their houses and organizing picnics or barbeques.
That’s all for today! God bless America and have a Happy Fourth!
